Arieh
Amit has been active in the field of
security for over 25 years, and has
played a central role in the
establishment of elite combat units
within the Israel Defense Forces and
subsequently in the Israeli Police
Force. In his last post in the
Israeli Police, he served as the
Commander in Chief of the
Jerusalem district, at a rank
equivalent to Major General, where
he dealt with numerous security
crises – severe terror attacks,
including numerous suicide bombings,
in addition to criminal activity.
This position was particularly
demanding, in view of Jerusalem's
significance to the three major
religions, and the fact that it |

is
densely populated with citizens who
are ethnically, religiously and
politically at odds.
Mr. Amit benefits from multifaceted
expertise and experience; he has
commanded over hundreds of complex
operations carried out by thousands
of security personnel, has held
senior positions in intelligence
units, coordinated security issues
with international bodies, prepared
the Israeli Police Force for
international confrontations, such
as the Gulf War, contained hundreds
of street demonstrations involving
hundreds of thousands of
participants – in addition to the
routine police and security
activities of crime prevention and
protection of life and assets.
Following the 9/11 terror attacks,
Mr. Amit was requested to provide
consulting services to various
police forces, as well as to
commercial entities, such as Macy's
and Bloomingdales.
Arieh Amit is a consultant to the
Israeli National Security Council,
which operates within the framework
of the Israeli Prime Minister's
Office, and is a member of the
International Policy Institute for
Counterterrorism, based in Israel.
Additionally, Mr. Amit has provided
consulting services to the Israeli
Military Industries in the
development of solutions for the
homeland security market, as well as
on the national bus protection
project. He has repeatedly been
requested to contribute to the
development of security solutions
for growing violence in urban
environments.
Mr. Amit's academic background
includes BA and MA degrees in
International Relations from Haifa
University, Israel. He is also a
graduate of several study programs:
the Advanced Management Program and
International Senior Management
Program of the Harvard University
School of Business; and the Special
Senior Directors Program at the Tel
Aviv University School of Business,
the Israel Defense Force's National
Security Academy, the Israeli Police
Force's Senior Officer's Program and
a military academy. |
